Gosteffects - Kick the Bass

FULL POST

Months ago I had posted a album preview that really caught my attention. Drowned in a sea of 1:30 ‘teasers’ of drops of songs, I found myself unable to stop hitting repeat on the six minute minimix. Finally after weeks of waiting (and after bringing him out in person to Santa Cruz, where he KILLED Motiv) we have the Kick The Bass EP.

The album is great, throughout it’s loaded with this pulsing, tribal/noise vibe which really comes through on “Kick the Bass” and “Tear the Club Up”. “House of God” was released as a free download a bit ago, and it’s still banging in my sets, haunting vocals strewn over what sounds like locusts eating your local pastor, I can’t get enough of this stuff. “yeah” is his classic electro offering, which comes through with bright energy and rounds out a nicley put together and well-produced EP. He’s been getting a lot of attention here as well as Europe, and has big plans for 2012. Grab the FREE tracks below and pick up the rest of the album, and turn up the bass.

Gosteffects – House of God

Gosteffects – Kick the Bass

Gosteffects – Slave to the Sweat (Disrupt the Scene Remix) <----Bonus

CoachellAltDelight brings attention to special artists that will be featured in Indio come April.

I rarely get this excited over “buzzy” shit, but I’m all about Team Banks right now. She’s just the walking, spittin’, flowy little k-word that we need right now. What do you kids think? Over the top wannabe gangsta shit? Or a rough-n-tumble, not-giving a fuck, let’s see how many forties we can kill before its noon shit? I choose the latter. Day 2 of Coachella. You already know.

For some places it doesn’t matter what the calendar says, it will always be mostly warm and sunny, no matter what time of year (growing up in Southern California, I became very accustomed to this). However, just North of our good friends in SLO-town it seems that we start to feel the seasons a bit more extremely. It’s just now finally gotten nice out here in Santa Cruz and the past few days it’s seemed like summer isn’t just something to look forward to, it’s practically here. Everyone’s in Miami taking sunny tanned pictures, and if you’re not doing that, you’re drooling over your Coachella wristband or EDC pass or whatever it is you’ve planned…and seeing a bunch of people with sunglasses and tanks ‘n boardshorts/bikinis smiling in the sun this past weekend when I played a little spring-break launching day party here, made me feel really fucking stoked.

Here’s the tracks from my set that got the best reaction, some old, some new. Was stoked to see kids get down with songs consisting of a pretty heavy (post)techno element, maybe it was the jello shots. I ended up mixing all the tracks together into a quick 22 minute minimix, so head to my soundcloud to save your right click fingers some trouble :)

Aerotronic – Helicopter
Bart B More – Romane (Gucci Vump Remix)
Keith & Supabeatz vs Slap In The Bass – Smoka (Myam Myam Remix)
Hot City X LOL Boys – Hot Boys
Miike Snow – The Wave (Style Of Eye Remix)
Bart B More feat. TAI – Nobody Canna Cross It (Di Bus Can Swim)
Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg – Still D.R.E.(The Rox 2012 Remix)

And if you haven’t grabbed Style of Eye’s single from the new OWSLA compilation, do so immediately. Please use caution, it’s not called ‘Devastate’ for nothin’.

Style of Eye – Devastate

Hope these bring some sunny vibes your way, always wear good headphones and support the artists!

Young L.A. based label BODY HIGH has been making some big noise the past few weeks. Collectively run by Trouble & Bass’ California attaché Samo Sound Boy and Jerome from the killer duo known as LOL Boys, these guys pulled a fast one and are releasing a huge new 5-track ep from Todd Edwards.

A name instantly identifiable by keen U.K.G. heads and snobs, Mr. Edwards is known for his ability to tie down a pretty garage roll with cut-up religious themed vocals and quick, thunderous builds; he’s nothing short of THE drive behind the emergence of Garage music in the U.S. in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. When combined with a label known for their Bass and ghetto-dancehall grooves, the result is ‘Shall Go’, a release dripping with a raw, modern take of a time when dance music was sweeter.

The tracks “Hold the Faith” and “Echos of the Past” are his gentle, complex garage beats offered on the album, and “The Stranger” is a reversion into his craft of layering lyrics into an inspiring message(he’s a devout Christian). Yet it’s the title-track and “This Generation” that really reach out. Both feature huge percussion, the former a stomping, inspirational anthem, the latter a uniquely massive drumline banger that features a sample from “Pass the Dutchie”. Stream the entire album below for free, and get your clickers ready, this bad boy drops tomorrow, keep an eye on his Soundcloud and Facebook.

As if you hadn’t heard, my favorite producer for the past year and a half has his first E.P. coming out on Dim Mak in less than a week. These are some of the biggest tracks I’ve heard come out of the big room house sound in a really long time, complete with three quality remixes (two only categorized as “big roombahton” from CAD favorite Dillon Francis and personal favorite Torro Torro, and a high energy complextro banger from Botnek). Head over to the Squad Up Soundcloud now and preview all the tracks, and put March 13th on your calendar, it’s just what needs to be done.

This week I’ve got some pretty sweet tech-house grooves and a clamorous new techno-electro track out of Belgium, all good fer what ails ya.

Pretty ill tech-house out of Slovenia…incredibly crisp productions, and he’s quickly developing his own sound, two things I look for constantly in music. His facebook is here and his soundcloud is here with a brand new free Queen Latifah bootleg.
Alex Ranerro – Caliente
Matt Who – Gotta Get (Alex Ranerro Remix)

This is the new ‘Booty Clap’.
Jaymo & Andy George – Inhaler (Worthy’s West Coast Bass Remix)

These two brothers from Belgium (euro Casino Gold?) have been around for a minute, with remixes for Steve Aoki, The Subs, and a collab with Hatiras over the past year, they come around to releasing a massive EP, listen below, and grab the rest here.
Le Petit Belge & Le Cheval – Jolly Jumper
