Lightning In A Bottle | Lineup | Tickets | Set Times

There’s no denying that An-Ten-Nae was one of our faves at LIB 2013. Since then, he’s partnered up with Re|eece to create music as Dimond Saints. Under this moniker, the two are mashing future beats with the deep bass sound that LIB prides itself on. It’s easy to get lost in the rhythm. Just how we like it.

They play Saturday at 8pm on the Bamboo Stage. Come flow with us.

LIB Spotlight brings attention to special artists that will be featured at Lightning In A Bottle Fest 2014.
Some we love. Some we just discovered. All essential.

Chiefs | Soundcloud

In less than six months, rookie Melbourne producer Chiefs has managed to release a debut EP, some singles, and quite a few remixes including Drake, Robin Thicke, Major Lazer, Paces and most recently Crooked Colours. He draws sonically from Hip Hop, Trap and Jersey Club but still manages to keep it danceable. The R&B samples, heavy bass, and melodic synths come together for a trifecta of bassy goodness. Having been featured on both the first compilation album by Pilerats Records and DIE HIGH Records’ DIEHIGHlights and being championed by the likes of Ta-Ku and Stwo, big things are all but assured.

BUY TICKETS NOW!

I just felt the need to give southern California a heads up on this show, because for some reason it isn’t sold out yet. This is good news for everyone. Not only is there still a chance for you to get in on what’s set to be a blowout of a show, but the people who are there won’t have to worry about overcrowding! The Palladium is debatably the best venue in LA. Sound. Space. Two levels. The place is like a giant dance floor. Even when it’s sold out you can still get a great spot.

As for the talent of the night, I mean…it’s a pretty simple question: Do you like bass? Bassnectar’s music is best played loud, and when he plays live he turns that shit up to 11. The kind of energy at his shows are unparalleled. The way he holds a crowd really makes you feel like family. C+A+D favorite Gramatik will be opening up for him. It will all blend together all too well. Start off with the mellow, head bobbing jams of Gramatik, maybe light one up for a minute, and then let it all go when Bassnectar takes over our ear pussies. I’m really trying to contain my excitement here…….TWO MORE DAYS! We’ll be shooting for the evening, so expect some amazing pictures very, very soon.

Gramatik released his latest album on Pretty Lights Music, so as you could expect, it’s free. Get that complete free download by clicking here. If you like it, donate a couple bucks. I included a solid tune and probably my favorite video I’ve ever gotten of Bassnectar (Audiotistic 2010) after the jump.

P.S. You can read our Gramatik interview here.

Rusko, the man who originally spiked the dubstep fruit punch bowl with fun, is back again with his second full length album, Songs. His first album, O.M.G! was a piece of work start to finish, introducing us to classics like “Woo Boost” and “Hold On,” during a period in which dubstep was being transformed from a purely headbanging affair to something that involved the whole body. That album was honestly tough to follow up. But in a sea of insanity with every other person throwing any combination of distorted w0bs and thunder together, I trusted cap’n Rusko to remind us what is great about bass music. And he pulled through again.

He sets it off with an intro that explains a little theory on how and why music should evolve. “Original come from the heart – whatever’s in your heart. You say you want to create a different sound, you create that different sound. Who is anyone to say there’s any boundaries? … Takin’ it from that school, and building it up to a different dimension.” True words. That jumps straight into the anthem that’s already been lighting up dance floors and faces, “Somebody to Love.” That track is 24k gold. “Skanker” is the first of 5 reggae influenced songs (“Love No More,” “Be Free,” “Roll Da Beats” and “Mek More Green”) that bring the sound back to its dub roots and simultaneously brings the album to the next level IMO. It just works too perfectly together. There’s a couple headbangers (“Opium,” “M357”), and a couple high energy tracks (“Pressure,” “Whistle Crew”) to round it out. If you had the attention span, I would go into detail on every track. But it’s time to just listen. Thrown together, it’s a complete, awesome album. This is meant to be enjoyed by some body of water, sippin’ on a beer with a slice of citrus and shmokin’ on a ground up gram of the finest.

Purchase

Catch him in SD @ 4th & B on 5/31 (Tickets), and LA @ The Palladium 6/1 (Tickets).
