I just felt the need to give southern California a heads up on this show, because for some reason it isn’t sold out yet. This is good news for everyone. Not only is there still a chance for you to get in on what’s set to be a blowout of a show, but the people who are there won’t have to worry about overcrowding! The Palladium is debatably the best venue in LA. Sound. Space. Two levels. The place is like a giant dance floor. Even when it’s sold out you can still get a great spot.

As for the talent of the night, I mean…it’s a pretty simple question: Do you like bass? Bassnectar’s music is best played loud, and when he plays live he turns that shit up to 11. The kind of energy at his shows are unparalleled. The way he holds a crowd really makes you feel like family. C+A+D favorite Gramatik will be opening up for him. It will all blend together all too well. Start off with the mellow, head bobbing jams of Gramatik, maybe light one up for a minute, and then let it all go when Bassnectar takes over our ear pussies. I’m really trying to contain my excitement here…….TWO MORE DAYS! We’ll be shooting for the evening, so expect some amazing pictures very, very soon.

Gramatik released his latest album on Pretty Lights Music, so as you could expect, it’s free. Get that complete free download by clicking here. If you like it, donate a couple bucks. I included a solid tune and probably my favorite video I’ve ever gotten of Bassnectar (Audiotistic 2010) after the jump.

P.S. You can read our Gramatik interview here.

After my ears took a beating courtesy of Funktion One sound and Dillon Francis Sunday night, I almost felt like I couldn’t really listen to anything yesterday. My ears are lit’rally still ringing and it’s now been a good 30 hours. But, Bassnectar dropped a little mixtape for us yesterday and figured if I’m gonna call myself a true Basshead I better sack up and just turn up the volume to make up for the hearing impairment. He starts off with a remix of The Beastie Boys Intergalactic (a personal childhood favorite) and keeps it goin for a solid 30 minutes of bass. Head over to his Facebook for the D/L and check the dates for his Vava Voom tour after the jump. We’re making it out to his hometown Santa Cruz, come party!

So I’ve been trying my best to deal with this Wi-Fi that’s shittier than a Coachella porta-potty and just got a hold of some semi-reliable internets. Excuse the hiatus of beats and rhymes but throw on yer good headphones.

Bassex is quickly becoming one of my favorite dubstep producers. Here he takes Wolfgang’s ‘The Champ’ and dubstep-erizes it. Wolfgang’s sound is only a few steps away from dubstep and I wouldn’t be mad to hear more remixes like this.

Wolfgang Gartner – The Champ (Bassex)

Unreleased track from Pac Div, featuring Asher Roth. The rattlin’ bass sounds like something Chuck Inglish cooked up in the kitchen. Like, Mibbs, and BeYoung deliver solid punchlines with the added effect of an audience on the beat. Asher goes in as he has been lately — haven’t really heard a verse I don’t like from him in a while. Hatin is useless.

Pac Div – Useless (ft. Asher Roth)

These two collaborating is probably pretty bad for the ozone layer. Emission levels of filth pretty high. They take the intro to La Di Da Di and twist it around Bassnectar‘s signature rhythmic basslines and Datsik‘s thizz-face inducing w0mp. Nicely blended.

Bassnectar & Datsik – Elevate

This is the first release of the much anticipated Re:generation project. Skrillex and The Doors get together to fuse eras here as the first of many artists from different time periods collaborating. I think they did a pretty damn good job of utilizing the common themes/sound between rock and dubstep. Skrillex crafts his thumping bassline with some guitar work and vocal snippets from who I believe to be Jim Morrisson. I could be 100% fucking that up though. One of the best Skrillex releases this year IMO.

Skrillex & The Doors – Break’n a Sweat

The homies Gooffee released another jam yesterday and it’s a good’un. Samples Ram Jam’s “Black Betty” which interestingly works really well. They’ve got the whole moombah-dub-core-whateverthefuck down pat. You’re able to groove and get down and dirty at the same time. Check out the video interview we did with them a little while back.

Bassnectar released this free mixtape today. Chock full of unreleased tracks, remixes, mashups and pretty much any other type of choon you could imagine. I got excited because I thought it was split into track by track, but it’s still a huge mix. If you’re trying to sit back and relax, stay clear of this tape. Although the album art is a whirlwind of color, this mix shows a 90% chance of a wobble storm and 100% chance of you losing your shit.

New visuals for Bassnectar & Jantsen‘s ‘Red Step’ off Bassnectar’s upcoming Divergent Spectrum album, which comes out next Tuesday 8/2. This one showcases thousands of Bassheads getting down at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. I’m still really curious to check out the apparently wild dubstep scene out there. Does the thin air have something to do with their tolerance for the grimiest of the grime? Anyways, Bassnectar throws down here as always. If Skrillex is the Prince of Dubstep what is Bassnectar? Somewhere in the royal family for sure. Check out the video below!

BONUS Nectar!

Turn your speakers up and prepare yourself.

Ellie Goulding

Alright this post goes out to all my bass heads trying to get their fix. Another day, another delightful treat. This time in the form of a remix from none other than the king of bass. He takes Ellie Goulding‘s innocently beautiful voice and slams on some carnivorous bass that’s sure to make my downstairs neighbors call my landlord…again. I wouldn’t say it’s the headbangers dream come true, but it’s definitely going to satisfy my Bassnectar glands for the time being. He’s going on a massive West Coast tour that I wish I could be a part of…one of the best live performers I have EVER seen. More details here. (Also has Lorin’s commentary on his tour-kick-off remix.)

-Skinny Genes

Ellie Goulding – Lights (Bassnectar Remix)

BONUS BASS

Bassnectar – Bass Head (Original Mix)
Bassnectar – Wildstyle Method (feat. 40 Love)
Metallica – Seek & Destroy (Bassnectar Remix) Delightful Choice!
