Starship Connection creates funk that is intergalactic planetary. This duo (B.Bravo and Teeko) is well known in many circles as revivalists of West-Coast funk. B-boys love their breaks. Beat mashers praise their jazzy soul. And space cadets explore their dimensional grooves.

Their LA Boiler Room appearance a while back hints at how space-funky their live sets can get. Join us as their smooth sounds transport us through the world of electro-funk.

Starship Connection – Heartbreaker

The summery sounds have been blooming since the weather turned. Yet as June settles in, the gloom begets touching upon the more emotional side of sound. Here are a few tracks to manage those moods.

Hayden James – Something About You (Ben Pearce Remix)

One of the best tracks of the past year, Hayden James’ ‘Something About You’ meets tech and bass stimulations thanks to Ben Pearce. The vocal cuts, as expected, add the feeling and flavour.

Hudson Mohawke – Scud Books

With Lantern, we hear Hudson Mohawke experimenting with his typically beat driven style. ‘Scud Books’ is a prime example of his take on a rousing and anthemic approach.

Bag Raiders – Vapour Trails

The Australian feel-good duo are back on the radar. After almost a year of silence, Bag Raiders release ‘Vapour Trails’ and its a perfect summer chiller that brings out sweeping emotion.

LEISURE – Hot Love

LEISURE‘s psychedelic love-soul sound has had us bad for the past few months. Newest heater ‘Hot Love’ only brings us deeper into their clutch.

Favored Nations – Always

Funky disco-pop from Favored Nations‘ newest track is poetically passionate. The catchy instrumentalism adds a nice level of grooves to ramp up the moves.

Chet Faker – Bend

Left off Built on Glass, Chet Faker‘s ‘Bend’ is a experiment in clamor and mixed emotions. The internal dialogue fits perfectly as a single release jam-track.

Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars (Thero Remix)

This classic graduation tear jerker gets a summery spin from Thero. He adds modern electronics and smooth acoustics that bring the lyrics into the spotlight as truly timeless.

The Acid – RA (David August Remix)

David August adds his subtle and cerebral electronica style to this already heady track. The effect is a late night kicker suitable for those candid brain games.

Mansions on the Moon – The Truth (Eric Sharp and Tenova Remix)

Eric Sharp of RIS Labs and Tenova take Mansion on the Moon‘s hopelessly romantic single and lay on a house twist for those alone-on-the-dancefloor needs.

Lightning In A Bottle | Lineup | Tickets | Set Times

Australian duo Hermitude have spent the last 14 years shaping what has more recently been dubbed the future beats scene. Though somewhat overshadowed by Flume‘s quick rise, these two have established themselves as definite influencers of the sound. Their fourth release, HyperParadise, received much acclaim from those in the know. We expect their forthcoming album, Dark Night, Sweet Light (out today!), will only bring them further into the public eye.

Hermitude – HyperParadise

Hermitude – The Buzz ft. Mataya & Young Tapz

Hermitude – Speak of the Devil

The Kite String Tangle – Stone Cold (Hermitude Remix)

Towkio – .Wav Theory

Towkio gathers talent from all over the beat and hip-hop game for this fiery first release. Get it free then catch him at Soulection this Saturday.

Dreamy basslines by Ambassadeurs show us that his skill is in crossing through genres with ease. Trust us, you don’t want to miss him at LIB.

Taste Nasa – Time Goes By

The sounds get silky smooth on Taste Nasa‘s latest release off Vitalic Noise. Time Goes By has us swooning to sun-kissed indie-psych-funk.

New Zealand’s Thomston brings on the emotions with his third EP. The R&B tempos and clouded vocals have a certain listless romanticism to them.

Moony Habits is a new crew setting up shop in the LA scene. While they’ve a basis in beats, the Moony crew has already set plans to offer so much more in the realm of spacey and romantic. Their very first show features the genre hopping FaltyDL and experimental beat makers Mono/Poly and Mike Gao. The venue: the very intimate Complex in Glendale.

FaltyDL just dropped a diamond new record. Mono/Poly had a killer release on Brainfeeder last year. And Mike Gao has had quite the career that he started out of famed Low End Theory. It’s going to be a wild first show and we’re betting future parties will be just as far out.
