coachella

EDIT: Turns out it’s just another BS Daft Punk rumor. It was fun while it lasted! Full article.

The Coachella lineups is expected to drop within the next couple of weeks or so; frantically, every music loving soul on the western seaboard will be anxiously skimming the poster for those two magical words, Daft Punk. Until recently, The French duo has been completely off the map, but rumors of a Daft Punk side project have been spreading like mono at a middle school rager. It’s under speculation that they decided to go under the alias ‘The Third Twin,’ to put out an album called ‘Homemade’. If you try to look into them, you’ll be left with nothing but a vague possibility. I was however, able to dig up an interesting Q&A.

Well, the big question is obvious, are you Daft Punk?

(TTT): Actually this question is something that disappoints us greatly, since our inception we have escaped the commercialism, the music never must be confused with the image. Comparisons are meaningless for us. And that the real reason for our project, the comparison between twins does not make sense, so the name The Third Twin.

Another thing I thought was noteworthy was that, at the peak of TRON soundtrack leaks, someone under the username AlexDaft26 posted 11 songs that said they were off the unreleased soundtrack. The artist names were later changed to The Third Twin after Disney said they had nothing to do with the soundtrack. All of this is very interesting, of course.

They definitely have the aesthetic feel…several familiar samples… The Third Twin could possibly be Daft Punk… or perhaps just some kids manipulating free publicity; either way, the album itself really does a lot of good.

Steve Aoki @ Coachella

I get the chills instantly when I look at that picture, because as of two days ago tickets for Coachella have gone on sale! They’ve given us the option of paying for our ticket in installments so you don’t have to take that $300 hit on the spot. Pretty cool if you ask me. I hate when someone can’t experience something like this because of the cost. Take it from me though, it’s worth every penny. Undoubtedly one of the best festivals in the world in every aspect: vibes, music, location, experience, etc., etc. In the spirit of Coachella, I’ve put up some tracks of rumors I hope to be true about 2011’s headliners: Daft Punk, Arcade Fire, Beastie Boys. I said RUMORS, people.

Also, I’ve been getting some feedback on the structure of the YOLO list, after only 21 weeks (-_-), and decided to be less lazy and make every song playable before you download it. For the old YOLO lists you have, I intended for you to put them all in a playlist and just shuffle through them and stumble on something new. It’s all good. Let me know if ever you think there’s a way for me to improve the site. It’s all for you guys.

YOLO 21

Piper and Fernandez – Rockstar (DCUP Remix) (Disco House/Electronic)
Afrojack – Replica (Original Mix) (Dutch House)
Arcade Fire – Neighborhood #2 (Laika) (Indie/Alternative/Rock)
Akron/Family – Set ’em Free Pt 1 (Folk/Rock)
N.E.R.D. – Hypnotize U (Yuksek Remix) (Disco House)
Delta Spirit – Gimme Some Motivation (Indie/Folk/Rock)
Delta Spirit – Streetwalker (Indie/Folk/Rock)
Bonobo – Kong (Experimental/Trip Hop)
Alexisonfire – Pulmonary Archery (Post Hardcore)
Beastie Boys – Sabotage (Alex Metric Re-Edit) (Rock/Electronic)
Fred Falke, Burns – Y.S.L.M. (You Stopped Loving Me) (Treasure Fingers Remix) (Disco House)
Nero – This Way (Dubstep)
Daft Punk – Human After All (Justice Remix) (Electronic)

Good morning! Had to churn this one out post Audiotistic, because I don’t know if I’m going to have time to do it later. Have a final Monday…every minute of studying I didn’t do and that I’ll never get back was 100% worth it. Audiotistic was everything and more. I’ll have videos and my favorites from the night on the next post. (Don’t worry, by the way, I’ll handle this test. It’s all about balance!)

So I didn’t get much of a response from the last one, but I’m going to assume that you all loved it, because I do! I’m planning on keeping them at two songs at most per artist, so I can show you as many as possible as the weeks go by. Look into the artists you like, and feel free to let me know if you need more guidance. I tried to keep it random as fuck again, so expect to hear something new. These have been really fun to make so far. Keep me posted on who stood out or what genre you want more of, and I’ll keep that in mind for future YOLO Lists.

ALSO! As you’re listening to these lists, if you feel as though I might enjoy a band you like, please tell me in the comments or email me! I have an ever-expanding desire for new music, and if I put it up here, you’ll get your credit for sure.

Delightful Mention!

Miike Snow – Animal (Punks Jump Up Remix)
Miike Snow is definitely one of the better bands out there right now. All around, too..they were absolutely beautiful at Coachella. This is one of those songs that all the remixes are way better, but the original is still amazing. This one imparticular has a grip of remixes, but the Punks Jump Up mix will always stand out to me.

Artist: The Colour
The Colour…it feels like I’ve been listening to them forever. They used to throw flyers around my highschool, and I went to see them because the flyer looked cool. They were local, got really big, made an amazing album called “Between Earth & Sky”, traveled Europe, then broke up. Band conflicts are a damn shame..Regardless, this shit has been “go to” for me for all my music life. Todays Rolling Stones? ..or yesterdays I guess

Artist: Starfucker
Don’t let the name fool you!

Artist: Discovery
This is a side project of Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij and Ra Ra Riot’s Wes Miles. Considering I love Vampire Weekend and think Ra Ra Riot’s aiite, I thought I’d give it a shot. It’s got this weird R&B thing going on, that’s kinda funny, considering it’s these two white guys. Somehow they pull it off though..

Your week just got it’s own playlist!

all these tracks are for promotional purposes only and if you want them removed email contactalijafari@gmail.com
