flux pavillion

I almost lost my shit when I saw that Doctor P and Flux Pavillion made the bill for Audiotistic this year. Circus Records has been working to get their boys Visas so they can finally show the U.S. exactly what’s up with dubstep now and where it’s headed in the future. It’s been a year since Gold Dust became the dubstep anthem for dj sets all over the world, acting as one of the gateway jams for most people into the genre. As far as dubstep goes, these two are among the best. Their styles are so uniquely awesome and hard-hitting that when they combine forces it’s something out of a dream. Doctor P’s ruthless squeaks on Flux’s bone rattling synths have yet to leave me disappointed and this song is no different. I love how their sounds are distinguishable in the track. Can you tell what’s who? The track drops July 3rd, so we got somethin’ extra to look forward to before the fourth.

Make sure you get your tickets for Audio asap. Last year’s was one of the best concerts I’ve ever attended. Mainly because I love the NOS Event Center for this shit, and it could have maybe been because of A-Trak, Treasure Fingers, Bassnectar, Rusko, Kid Cudi, Cosmic Gate, Kill the Noise, Harvard Bass and others…maybe.

Delightful Treats

WARNING: You NEED bass for these

Plan B – Love Goes Down (Doctor P Remix)

Flux Pavillion – Lines In Wax

I was deeply pondering how I could possible make C+A+D any better, so I realized, post consistency. Therefore, I’ve decided to designate a new weekly holiday, w0mp Wednesdays. Every Wednesday I’ll massage your worthy ears with fresh electro and filthy dub.

Excision & Datsik

Legends of the dubstep scene, Excision and Datsik practically wrote the book on putting the 0 in w0mp. Representing Canada, Excision and Datsik collaborations venture into the dub ultraviolent, A Canuckwork Orange perhaps.

Noisia – Alpha Centauri (Excision & Datsik remix)

Featured in YOLO 27:

Excision & Datsik – Swagga <- I was eating bread … at 1:06 I was eating toast

Digiraatii

Buckle your seat belts; DIGIRAATII will take you on a perilous ride through raunchy dub and grimy electro. I’m sure your ears have been beaten to death by now by A-traks take on Heads Will Roll. However, this trio from Cleveland will have you on your knees, begging for more.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Heads Will Roll (DIGIRAATII Remix v2.0)

Crystal Vision – Mouser (DIGIRAATII Remix)

Flux Pavillion

Representing himself at an international level, Flux Pavillion has been climbing the dubstep ladder ever since dropping his widely celebrated banger ‘Gold Dust’.  To everyone’s surprise however, Flux Pavillion is NOT just a one hit wonder. Flux has been pumping out filthy DNA altering w0mp like Chernobyl on a sunny day… The sheer audacity and production value of FP trumps most dub out there.

Flux Pavillion – Hold Me Close

Flux Pavillion – Night goes on

M.IA. – Internet Connection (Flux Pavillion Remix)

Dirtyloud

Time for my personal fav genre, glitch electro! Brazilian producers Jim & Du form Dirtyloud; a name perfectly suited. It’s hard to formulate a sentence that accurately portrays the sound, maybe I’m crazy but I have a reoccurring image of flying zombies with flamethrowers.

Felguk – Whatever Clever (Dirtyloud Remix)

Aaren San – Apes From Space (Dirtyloud Remix)

Dirtyloud – Dirtymind

Bonus

I’m sure you’re all well aware of Skrillex’s grimy take on ‘Hey Sexy Lady’, Afrojack finally decided to give his 2 cents; better late then never.

iSquare – Hey Sexy Lady (Afrojack Remix)

happy w0mp day!

Ever since dropping ‘Woo Boost’ earlier this year, carelessly, melting thousands of Bieber fans; Rusko wiggled his way up to #1 on my must see list. Last weekend, the genie came out of his bottle to grant me my wish. I wasn’t going to settle for anything less, front row center on the gate; I pressed through. There I was, 20 feet away from the king of w0mp; Rusko handed me a ticket, a roundtrip ticket down the yellow brick road, there and back. Embarking on a journey so epic that it’s difficult to document, restricted by words. Rusko opened his set with ‘Flux Pavillion – Lines In Wax’; thankfully I brought a napkin, I was already drooling on myself. The entire set was flawless, beginning to end, w0mp after w0mp. I’m not sure if it was the unassailable choice of tracks or the unreal amount of energy he brought to the stage. Rusko, my man, you performed the best set I’ve ever experienced in my entire life, a tip of the hat to you Sir.

I just got my hands on Rusko’s new track… taking a different angle, giving us a breather from the w0mp overload. I can dig it.

Flux Pavillion – Lines In Wax <-♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
The Temper Trap – Soldier On (Ruskos F’kin Seagull Remix) <-♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

For those of who don’t know, AN21 (Antoine Josefsson) is Steve Angellos Brother. Usually, they are off doing their own projects, however, when the sun and moon line up just right, they collaborate. Back in the day they released “Valodja” and “Flonko”, but its been a while… it’ time for something new, something fresh. I have good news and bad news. The bad news,  the next eclipse isn’t until December 21st. The good news? Steve and Antoine are at it again…

Pendulum – The Island – Steve Angello, AN21, Max Vangelli Remix <-♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

As much as I can get down with Angello, my love sticks loyal to the originals:
Pendulum – The Island Part 1 (Dawn) <-♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Pendulum – The Island Part 2 (Dusk) <-♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Bonus:

Clockwork coming through with some minty filth; kinda like taking a dump while brushing your teeth
Felix Cartal – Love (Clockwork Remix) <-♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Stay Classy,
– Chronic mncher

Throughout the last couple months a new electro genre has been sweeping the nation. Relatively eccentric, this scene is leaving Beiber fans clenching for their sensitive ears. Unfortunately, this music has a strong following of love it or hate it; there’s an elephant in the room.

Now some of you may know this filthy elephant, he goes by the name dubstep. For you guys that aren’t familiar, dubstep is notorious for fat buildups and nuclear waves of bass and wobble. Personally, I hated dubstep. I would think to myself, “How the fuck can anyone listen to the wall of noise?” Slowly things changed, it grew on me.

Dubstep continues to explode, appearing on all sorts of festival lineups. Hard, for example, is getting down and dirty this Halloween with a couple big name dubstep producers, Rusko and Jackbeats.

Love it, Hate it, or never even heard of it, here’s an assortment of some sick shit. Give it a chance; it’ll grow on you.
