Not toooo much new stuff coming through last week. Don’t know how much of it was me not noticing and how much of it was just me losing patience for what’s to come. Either way, I’m still happy with the list. Hope you guys have been keeping up with our facebook page, as far as the new photographer and show coverage we’ve been getting. It may be just me, but I’m excited as f*ck for the future in general! You should be too. Good things come with positive mindsets. It’s science…or I may just be insane. Enjoy #62!

It’s funny because the closer the release date of Justice’s sophomore album gets, the more I think about them. More so as a worry of how they can make something that will ever compare to the level of Cross, but also just about how much I miss their sound. I’ve also been thinking about their past remixes and how much they put into making them perfect. There aren’t many out there, and a lot of the ones that are out are fake, but I can say with confidence that this remix is theirs. You can’t fake the signature funky bass lines that Justice is always on top of. Their choice to remix one of my favorite tracks of 2011 just makes it that much better. Thank you music gods for making this happen for us!

(and a big thanks to SoundLogik for the heads up)

Pretty much every remix that RAC releases becomes a momentous occasion of sorts. For this post, you’re getting two! With a perfect, almost consistently flawless, combination of indie dance vibes and modern electronic synths, they continue to make us all proud.

Gigamesh – When You’re Dancing (RAC Mix)

Their Gigamesh remix is undoubtedly my favorite of the two. The genre being labeled as “Space Disco” couldn’t be more fitting. With Gigamesh already having a reputation of funky disco deliverance, the choice to have RAC put their intergalactic touch on it was keen to say the least. Definitely another feel good jam to add to the seemingly endless RAC classics list.

Foster the People – Pumped Up Kicks (Gigamesh Remix)

Givers – Meantime (RAC Mix)

What was going to be a one song post turned into me stumbling on this release from today! The way RAC uses Givers‘ singers Taylor Guarisco and Tiffany Lamson vocals in perfect harmony puts everything in its right place. You can’t help but let go of all things negative as the track runs through from start to finish. They said that although the track sounds simple, it was one of the hardest remixes they’ve ever done, taking almost 5 weeks to finish in its entirety. Needless to say, the extra effort pays off as RAC does it again.

RAC is going to release a new track when they get 10,000 fans and they’re barely 200 away! Do us and yourself a favor and go like their facebook page. If you haven’t had a chance to check out our interview with the brains behind the collective, click here. Cheers!

Dillon Francis @ SOLD OUT Key Club

Hello! Welcome back for another weekly dose of the good music that’s made it into my library as of late. It seems like everyone is trying to squeeze tracks into this very epic year for music, and there’s so much on its way! Jack Beats, Wolfgang Gartner, The Strange Boys, Duck Sauce, Justice…am I forgetting anything? 2011 continues to deliver. Also sorry for the lack of posts recently. We’re all working hard behind the scenes to get C+A+D moving to the next level of sorts. For instance, just added a new media specialist, Philip Mendoza! Some raw talent from Hurley. Scope his shots from the Dillon Francis show, which was absolutely mental mind you. All is well! Let’s get together at the next show. YOLO

Bassnectar released this free mixtape today. Chock full of unreleased tracks, remixes, mashups and pretty much any other type of choon you could imagine. I got excited because I thought it was split into track by track, but it’s still a huge mix. If you’re trying to sit back and relax, stay clear of this tape. Although the album art is a whirlwind of color, this mix shows a 90% chance of a wobble storm and 100% chance of you losing your shit.

Dear Skrillex,

God dammit dude. Here you go again. You make it so easy to love you with these melodic remixes. How you manage to keep them so uplifting without compromising on filth is beyond me. What a combination of old and new! SebastiAn and you couldn’t have come together any more nicely. Thank you!

All the best,
Skinny Genes

P.S. You owe me new speakers.

RUKES!

Ed Banger’s very own SebastiAn made his almost scheduled yearly return to Los Angeles last Friday, teaming up with Sharooz, Destructo, and a surprisingly talented and sexy opener. Last time I got to be victim to his relentless bass was HARD Haunted Mansion 2010. Before that was the tragedy of HARD summer 2009 that he didn’t even get to play at, and even before that was HARD Haunted Mansion 2008. AKA the rave that woke America up. I’ll never forget when he opened…slamming on Motor and going to a remix of the Strokes that never seemed to surface on the internet. It was everything you’d dream a sebastiAn show to sound like live. Heavy. Massive. Distorted. Packed with samples. Filled with bass. I could go on forever. Nothing but sweetness! What put this show aside from the formers, other than the fact that it wasn’t a HARD event, was that this time he came locked and loaded with a new live set at his own show.
