YOLO list

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs @ HARD

Alright so it’s post Haunted Mansion weekend, and I can’t seem to let myself sleep. I just can’t believe this weekend happened, and to the level that it did. SO many surprises, and everyone brought their freshest sets. It’s gonna be so fun writing the review. I got a lot of ridiculous videos for us. Fake Blood, TEED, Skrillex, Rusko, Zeds Dead, Fatboy Slim, 2 Many DJS…unreal that we were there for all that. No videos of Soulwax. I took a vow to never film them after tonight. I don’t want people to think they can just go to Escape From Wonderland or Skream + Benga, and just see what’s up with Soulwax through YouTube vids. Fuck that. GO SEE THEM LIVE! Meanwhile, scope our YouTube channel for the others.

That being said, met a lot of f*ckin awesome people this weekend. Lots of good vibes all around. It’s crazy what saying something nice to someone will do to them mentally. There’s nothing like the assurance in your mind when someone compliments you and stands by you. So I challenge you: anyone can talk shit. say something nice to a random person this week. You could change their life that easy! That’s all for now. Enjoy the list friends. If you saw me in my Thomas the Tank Engine costume toot tootin’ around, that was for you.

Ok ok ok…..I’m going to try and contain my excitement for the end of this week and save it for our HARD preview coming up. Despite Halloween being on a Monday, the week leading up to it is stuffed with fun things to do! HARD, Escape from Wonderland, Strange Boys on Wednesday, Nero @ Music Box, Deadmau5/Avicii/Feed Me in San Diego, Thee Oh Sees/Soft Pack on Sunday in LA. I mean, it’s interesting to see that concert going and party starting reach this level of competitiveness but HEY! I’m a man of options. The more to choose from the better. Halloween is awesome. Enjoy #66(6)

Happy Monday people! Especially happy to share this week. Had a nice, steady flow of music. Both old and new. Dived a bit deeper in my library to make this list a solid 10-tuner, as I like to call ’em. I want to leave you with something I was thinking about a lot this week: You can never be as happy as the people who laugh at themselves. Pretty much, just don’t be too hard on yourself. Learn to love who you are on your pursuit to be who you want to be. Turning negatives to positives is a powerful way to live. If you don’t have faith in yourself than how can anyone else? I have faith in you! Enjoy the list:

What’s up everybody? This past week was a week of firsts, for music and life. Lots of good and bad things happened. What they had in common, though, is that they made me appreciate life even more than before. For one, all of Southern California’s colleges got together for Tiesto’s invasion and a record breaking attendance. It definitely brought the entire show together in a totally different way than usual. Pretty sweet deal. I’ll have my review of the Carson City stop up soon. Meanwhile, I want to make your Monday better with this week’s list. Be happy! It’s as easy as that. YOLO

I was thinking a lot about all that hubub James Blake made over american bro/dub/fratstep and it really bummed me out. Partly because of the fact that internet music gossip actually bummed me out, but mainly because of realizing that even respected musicians go out of their way to put down other genres. I’ve always felt that it isn’t fair to hate on music you don’t understand. Maybe because I used to be really into hardcore music, which was really easy for people to hate on. Yet I loved the stuff! As lame it sounds, the music is making someone happy somewhere. Whether you get it or not, bite your tongue so you don’t look like a fool when it starts making sense for you!

What I wrote when I started the YOLO lists still holds true: Life isn’t too short, but too dear to be confined to any one genre of music, or to any one way of life for that matter. There is something worth listening in every genre, even country! Open your minds and your ears and give it a shot. You never know. Here’s my 63rd attempt at helping you make sense of this vast musical world.

Not toooo much new stuff coming through last week. Don’t know how much of it was me not noticing and how much of it was just me losing patience for what’s to come. Either way, I’m still happy with the list. Hope you guys have been keeping up with our facebook page, as far as the new photographer and show coverage we’ve been getting. It may be just me, but I’m excited as f*ck for the future in general! You should be too. Good things come with positive mindsets. It’s science…or I may just be insane. Enjoy #62!

Dillon Francis @ SOLD OUT Key Club

Hello! Welcome back for another weekly dose of the good music that’s made it into my library as of late. It seems like everyone is trying to squeeze tracks into this very epic year for music, and there’s so much on its way! Jack Beats, Wolfgang Gartner, The Strange Boys, Duck Sauce, Justice…am I forgetting anything? 2011 continues to deliver. Also sorry for the lack of posts recently. We’re all working hard behind the scenes to get C+A+D moving to the next level of sorts. For instance, just added a new media specialist, Philip Mendoza! Some raw talent from Hurley. Scope his shots from the Dillon Francis show, which was absolutely mental mind you. All is well! Let’s get together at the next show. YOLO
