Irvine Represent! (Kiven | Nilu Madadi)

It’s definitely a good thing when you can look back at where you came from (or look out your window in my case) and be happy or prideful about it. When seemingly every day people you grew up with are following their dreams and making it happen, it makes it that much more real. Young the Giant is a good example of this. They never gave up and everything eventually paid off in time. The following artists are on the same path. Oh fun fact: Irvine is the 7th safest city in America? I don’t know if that’s great or just really pussy. I’ll take it, though. Check em out after the jump…

First, Los Angeles’ Kiven has a ReMade Series going for tracks off their latest EP titled Too In The Same. You can download that album by clicking here. It’s cool, because one of the guys in it was a classmate of mine, and we went in through a hardcore music obsession when we were younger. Always going to shows or playing shows. And now we’ve both moved in such similar directions. Interesting to see how music changes over the years. What will be next? Here’s the title track “Two In The Same” ReMade. Head on over to their FaceBook to download both tracks for free!

Next up, and this one took us all by surprise, Nilu Madadi. It was one of those “Top Links” that people were sharing on FaceBook of a piece that she’d done. So I was like “F*ck it! YOLO,” and gave it a listen. Needless to say, I was blown away instantly. Hearing that song anywhere would have caught my attention, whether or not I knew it was her. This is pure talent. I’m a sucker for girls singing on indie tracks sometimes. Ellie Goulding is a good example. Anyway she did a session with Noise Coalition, and it’s safe to say this is going to give her a giant push towards living her f*ckin dream. I love it. Download the track below, I included the video as well.
